Agustin Vidal A Passionate Gamer's Journey Through the Digital World

Agustin Vidal, a 34-year-old gaming enthusiast from Lincoln, NE, has a story that resonates with many who grew up alongside the evolution of video games. His journey began at the tender age of five, when he first fell in love with classics like Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, and Final Fantasy.

With a brother who always had the latest consoles, Agustin had the opportunity to explore gaming on a variety of platforms, from NES and Sega to every PlayStation, Xbox, and PC available. Preferring the solitude of gaming to neighborhood play, Agustin found solace and adventure in the immersive worlds that video games offered. This passion has followed him into adulthood, shaping his life and career in profound ways.

What are your favorite games or genres to play and why?

At the beginning, my favorite genre of games to play consisted of rpgs, Final Fantasy, Chrono Cross and Legend of Dragoon. I moved on to first person shooters once I was introduced to Call Of Duty, Medal of honor and Halo. Fast forward to today, I'm all about the horror. Horror gaming has become my all time favorite style, It's got jumpscares, amazing stories, mind bending puzzles and has given me ridiculously high blood pressure. My top 3 horror games that were just absolutely amazing, Visage, Madison and The Kidnap.

How do you stay current with the latest games and gaming trends?

I do quite a bit of networking with other streamers, receive gaming suggestions from viewers, I follow a lot of developers on multiple sites and apps to keep in the loop on any new games they are developing or updates that may drop for current titles of theirs that I enjoy. I'll check out steam reviews, upcoming steam news, follow horror content on tiktok, youtube and X.

Can you describe your typical gaming setup?

I have my desktop, 3 monitors and extra lighting. I try to keep it pretty simple and my area clear. Since I started streaming through TikTok studio, I've found having multiple displays to be very beneficial to avoid any app issues while gaming. Pc's can get pretty expensive so I tried not to get too crazy with it. I have a Cyber power pc, intel core i7, 32gb memory, RTX 4060 Ti 16gb, 2tb SSD. I originally started out on an MSI laptop but quickly found that I needed to change my setup to meet the needs of the streaming world.

What are some of the biggest challenges you face as a gamer?

Since I stream, I have to make sure I'm in the loop in gaming, software and hardware. I tend to run into quite a bit of technical issues while I'm setting up for a stream, ask any of my followers, they got plenty of jokes because of it. I'll have to be able to troubleshoot on the fly if I have any type of crash during a game I'm playing through. So keeping track of compatibility, bugs with software/hardware when it comes to unreal engine and apps that conflict with certain games I'm trying to play along side it. I'd say 80% of the time I can resolve the issue and dive back into the game with minimal to no issues, the rest of the time I'll have to put a game on the back burner until I can figure something out. Reddit is definitely my go to for these issues.

Have you ever participated in any gaming tournaments or esports events? If so, what was your experience like?

I did online major league gaming during my call of duty Black ops 2 days, it was definitely a lot of fun, however I've never been to any major regulated events.

How do you balance gaming with other aspects of your life, such as work, school, or social activities?

It can be hard, I don't want to indulge too deeply as I start to think I am becoming lazy or neglecting family and friends, then other times I feel like I'm rushed due to work and daily activities that I won't have time for gaming. I've found myself in a somewhat decent schedule however, my sleep/exercise balance isn't the best at the moment and I definitely need to fix that.

What is your opinion on the current state of the gaming industry, where do you think it's headed in the next few years?

I feel that the gaming industry is on the rise, more and more new players are joining in and finding amazing worlds and stories. The amount of amazing friends that have come and gone through my years of gaming has been the most true value I've gained from this. The advancement in tech has just blown me away, right now my go to has been bodycam horror and I am just absolutely shocked at the detail in these games. I have to be honest, I can't even imagine what games will look like in the next few years.

Can you share a memorable moment or achievement in your gaming career?

My most memorable moment in my gaming career was having my buddies side by side with me, laughing, smiling, trash talking each other during lan parties and just forgetting about anything that was wrong that day.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to pursue gaming seriously, either as a hobby or a professional career?

Enjoy what you're doing.
