Le'Etta Briggs breaks down her story

My name is Le'Etta Briggs I was Born and raised in Providence Rhode Island. I decided early in life I wanted to be a lawyer, felt like I could uphold a good argument especially when I knew what I was talking about. I attended Central High school as a part of the Law Magnet they had there. That was a good idea until I started bunking class because I lived right across the street. (I grew up in Codding Court Projects) Fast forward to my early adult life, my dream of a lawyer kinda went south so I decided to go to school for Paralegal instead. That unfortunately did not go as planned either. I became a mom at 20 years old, I refused to rely on the system so I began working in Human Services.

I did that for a few years before it started to weigh on me. There isn’t a lot of growth in that field. So I again went to school for Medical Assistant this time. Did very well made the Deans List and all. Graduated with Honors. Unfortunately due to lack of experience in the field and the inability to speak another language I was declined several jobs as a Medical Assistant. Defeated, I went back to the Human Services field where I spent the next 13 years of my life somewhat feeling trapped. I took a leap of faith when a friend let me know about a position at a small company. So far away from what I was used to but I did it. One of the best decisions I’ve made in a long time. Loved my job and the people I work with.

Then Covid hit. I was on leave for 6 weeks due to the pandemic and during that time I started to reflect on life. How easy it was for my job to be taken away from me, yes I was one of the lucky ones that was able to go back to their job. But how long before that was going to happen again? So I started to think like a hustler, multiple streams of income is always key. What was I going to do? I don’t do hair or makeup or cook like you see some of these side hustlers do. I noticed there was not a lot of good body products being sold by “US” at least not anyone on my radar. I found out that someone I know is a genius with soap making as well as other body products. With a few chats I decided to take a chance and invest in her (another woman of color) by wholesaling.

Body By Reign was born! Do I make the product myself? No, I do not. However I cut, package and label everything myself. I stand by everything I sell. I personally try every single product myself before advertising. My daughter Hanalei Reign is the inspiration behind my products. All products are made in small batches using natural and organic ingredients. Our line has body oils, body scrubs and soaps in various scents. We also have a special soap for our lady parts. So in short. Buy small. Buy black. And by doing that, we all can succeed.
